This piece conveys our peoples connection to our plants.The Eucalyptus leaf provides our people with so many medicines and cultural practices, I thought it was fitting to showcase its beauty. The earth tones are what keeps us grounded and connected to Gunni (Mother) and the stars around the people show our connection to Baiame (Father) who lives in the stars.

Yathi winja (Good day) My name is Leah Cummins, I am a proud Mayi woman from North-Western Queensland.
I pay respect to the ancestors who give me these stories in my creativity, to share my culture that transcends words and draws people into wanting to learn about First Nations people. I paint both traditional and contemporary art using storytelling in every art piece to educate and teach everyone of my people's culture.
I hope to inspire and uplift my people by contributing to the sharing of culture and stories through my art. I want to share my love of my people with you.

This piece is called Country Land, inspired from the country we grew up on and the interconnectedness we share with our environment and how the country and land we live on is absorbed into our being and fibres.

Yathi winja (buenos días) Mi nombre es Leah Cummins, soy una orgullosa mujer mayi del noroeste de Queensland.
Encuentro inspiración en mi identidad cultural y doy vida a las historias de mi país y mi gente en mi arte. Pinto de historias de fortaleza para mujeres y niños, amor a la tierra y a toda mi gente.
Respeto a los antepasados que me dieron estas historias en mi creatividad, para compartir mi cultura que trasciende las palabras y atrae a las personas a querer aprender sobre las personas de las Primeras Naciones. Pinto tanto arte tradicional como contemporáneo utilizando la narración de historias en cada obra de arte para educar y enseñar a todos sobre la cultura de mi pueblo.

DYLAN PIETSCH
Dylan es atleta olímpico de Tokio 2020 para el Australian Rugby 7s y ahora es parte del equipo NSW Waratahs Super Rugby de 2022. Su arte refleja su fuerte conexión con su herencia Wiradjuri. Su trabajo está inspirado en la familia y la conexión con el país.
La compasión de Dylan por la comunidad se ve a través de su papel de embajador en la Casa Ronald McDonald, donde limpia la Casa Randwick Ronald McDonald todos los domingos y visita con frecuencia a los niños y sus familias.
